Including your social media isn’t necessary, but it is one way to go above and beyond.
Always be sure to include your current contact info. You might not even realize that you have submitted a resume with an old email address or phone number, so check ahead of time. If you do in fact receive the position, chances are the interviewer will call the number or email the address stated in your contact information.
Summary (or Objective)
The Summary or Objective section of a resume should be a brief statement – 3 to 5 sentences – about your previous work experience and skills sets. This section is quite literally a summary of why you are qualified for the job you’re applying for. It should be simple yet informative.
This section of your resume should be brief and in the form of bullet points. Look at the job posting ahead of time and see the required or desired skills, and then apply it to your resume. For example, if you are applying for a customer service position you can include “patience and positive attitude” or “effective communication”.
You don’t need to spend too much time on the Educational Background section of your resume, but it should always be there. You’ll want to include the name of your university or high school and the highest level of degree you received. You can also add your GPA and if you received honorary status of any kind.
This should be the main focus of any resume. A potential employer is most interested in your previous work experience and the duties that you were required to perform. Focus on your accomplishments rather than your day-to-day activities. Always write this section with the new employer in mind; try to include the information that he or she will care about.
If you have space on your resume, it is always a good idea to include a list of references. Remember that a professional resume should fit on one page, so only include this if there is room to spare. You can include the names and contact information of your previous employers, colleagues, and professors.
